Earlier this year, the three-time AP Defensive Player of the Year agreed to do an interview with the hosts of the popular Pardon My Take podcast, if they could raise $50,000 for his charity, the J.J. Watt Foundation. It took less than two days for the Barstool Sports podcast’s AWLs (Award-Winning Listeners) to quickly surpass the goal. Watt and the hosts agreed to conduct the sit-down interview in either Houston or Wisconsin, depending on the four-time All-Pro’s availability which may explain the July 17th date on the check.
Pardon My Take created the “Uhh Hey J.J.” catchphrase that its fans frequently and enthusiastically use to reply to Watt on Twitter.
Nashville is known for its country music, food and friendly people, but up until this year’s Stanley Cup playoffs, not many would’ve thought of it as a hockey town. That is, until the Predators made it into the finals.
Tonight, the Predators fell to the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 6, 2-0, giving the Penguins their second consecutive Stanley Cup championship and sending the Predators into the offseason title-less.
But the loss wasn’t all that bad, since the world got to see just how crazy Nashville (or rather Smashville) is for its Predators.
One person who took notice of the fandom was Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt, who responded to the below tweet after seeing the party downtown during Game 6.
If I were an NHL, or even NFL, free agent, I’d tell my agent to get me to Nashville, stat.
